International energy data
Production, consumption, trade, reserves, capacity and CO2 emissions by country and fuel for 265 country, region and aggregate codes, in natural units, terawatt-hours and quadrillion Btu. Most series are annual, 1980 to 2024; a few are monthly (to May 2026 in the file of 3 October 2026). Primary-energy accounting: fossil fuels at their heat content; non-combustible renewable electricity (hydro, wind, solar, geothermal, tide) at the heat content of the electricity, 3,412 Btu per kWh (the captured-energy approach); nuclear at the heat input of nuclear plants. Checked in the file of 3 October 2026 for World 2024: wind 8.570 quad Btu from 2,511.7 billion kWh (3,412 Btu per kWh), hydro 3,412, nuclear 28.386 quad Btu from 2,735.1 billion kWh (10,379 Btu per kWh). This differs from the Energy Institute's physical-energy-content totals and from the older fossil-fuel-equivalent method, so series from different producers are never joined. World total energy consumption 2024 is 606.04 quad Btu; the by-fuel series sum to 607.48, and the gap is left as published.

Status
- Programme
- INTL.zip was refreshed on 3 October 2026 and the World series run to 2024. In 2025 EIA lost more than 100 of its about 350 staff after buyouts and firings, cancelled the 2025 International Energy Outlook and delayed several reports (Reuters, Argus, ProPublica, 2025). Every pull is archived.
