Ember
Yearly electricity data
Annual electricity generation by source (terawatt-hours), share of generation, installed capacity, lifecycle emissions (MtCO2e) and emissions intensity (gCO2e per kWh) for 224 countries, economies and regions, 1985 to 2025. Country coverage thins in the latest years: in the file of 22 September 2026, "Total generation" has values for 208 countries in 2023, 194 in 2024 and 93 in 2025, so the 2025 World and regional values are partly Ember's estimates and each country's latest year must be shown. Emissions are lifecycle CO2-equivalent (UNECE factors), not combustion CO2, and are never added to Global Carbon Project values. The Capacity (GW) column is compiled from IRENA and Global Energy Monitor; capacity indicators use those sources directly.

States how the latest year is estimated from monthly data and how missing country years enter the regional and world totals.
